DSM introduces new peptide for anti-aging applications

Global science-based company DSM’s personal care unit has introduced a new anti-aging synthetic peptide complex, SYN-TC, to attain younger looking skin.

According to the Switzerland-based firm, SYN-TC is a combination of three tailor-made peptides (short polymers of amino acid monomers linked by peptide bonds), which perforate into the skin and act to increase the formation of undamaged, stable and homogenous collagen types, reported cosmeticsdesign-europe.com.

The firm said the collagen is present in skin’s outermost layer, epidermis,and is known to be the main component in connective tissue and backbones the epidermis to the dermis, which in turn protects the body’s subcutaneous tissues.

DSM said most of the skin care products have traditionally focused primarily on collagen I to smooth the skin, while the collagen types III, IV, VII, and XVII also make important contributions to the skin functionality.

DSM skin care global marketing manager Mathias Gempeler said the SYN-TC offers a completely new dimension in skin smoothing.

"This breakthrough product demonstrates our dedication to deliver innovations to the market that make a visible difference for consumers," said Gempeler.

The firm claims the ingredient when tested in extended vivo studies using macro photographs and computer-based 3-dimensional skin imaging has shown visible anti-aging properties in only 28 days.

The firm said the ingredient can gain an important role in personal care solutions for the skin that are not only effective but also fast-acting.
