French skincare market to grow slow in next five years: Report

Skincare market of France is likely to grow slow in the next five years compared to previous five years, finds a new survey by UK-based research firm Canadean – Health & Beauty.

According to the report, ‘The Future of the Skincare Market in France, to 2016’ the compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of the overall French skin care industry is expected to grow at a mere 2.82% during 2011 to 2016, against 5.6% posted in 2006-11, a drop of close to 50%.

All the segments, body care, depilatories, facial care, hand care, and make-up remover are going to experience the similar growth rate, according to Canadean.

Among all, French consumers have continued to give importance for facial care, which held a significant 73% value share in the skincare market in the review period and is likely improve slightly to 74% in the forecast period.

Facial care, which too is expected to grow at 48% lesser pace than the 2006-11 period, is one among the better growing segments, only next to hand care that has a nominal share of about 3%, the survey observed.

The overall market value of the French skincare industry is forecasted to grow by 15% in 2016 over 2011, 50% less compared the 31% growth registered in 2011 over the market value in 2006.

The report also covers volume and value analysis for the ten year period, 2006-2016; and provides market volume analysis by brands and market value by distribution channel for three-year period, 2008-11.
