CPKelco introduces new cosmetics ingredient range

Chemicals manufacturer CPKelco has introduced a new natural polymer range, Aquamax, ?-polyglutamic acid, a biotech peptide that can be used in the cosmetic formulations.

The Japanese firm said it has collaborated with the South Korean company BioLeaders for the development of new cosmetics ingredient range.

According to the firm, the new range includes two grades of polymers such as Aquamax HM with a high molecular weight (> 2000 kDa) and Aquamax LM with a molecular weight lower than 1kDa, reported premiumbeautynews.com.

CPKelco said the Aquamax HM has molecular structure that captures and retains water 2.5 to 4 times more than hyaluronic acid, which will reduce the transepidermal water loss (TEWL)and, in turn, will increase the skin’s hydration rate and boost the natural moisturising factors (NMF).

The firm said the performances of Aquamax HM at the hydration level will be higher in the short and long term application , when compared to hyaluronic acid at 2000kDa, or a collagen at 300kDa or to a ?-polyglutamic acid at 1000kDa.

CPKelco claims that in its clinical studies it was found that Aquamax HM’s Aquamax ?-polyglutamic acid-acts on the functionalities of hyaluronic acid by potentially inhibiting hyaluronidase, which lowers hyaluronic acid.

The product when dosed at 0.004% has shown the stabilization of hyaluronic acid at 92%.

CPKelco said the new AquaMAX LM grade has a low molecular weight, which reduces the expression of IL-1alpha, of MMP-1 and partly restores the loss of type I collagen generated by UVB exposure, which can be used in creating products for sensitive skins.

The firm said both the products will offer a soft and silky skin feel and will come in the form of dispersible powders in a glycolic or alcoholic medium.
