Danish fragrance market to see slower growth rate in next five years: Report

Danish people are likely to accord less importance to fragrance products in the next five years, thus pushing the growth rate of the industry down by about half, finds a new report by UK-based research firm Canadean – Health & Beauty.

According to the report, ‘The Fragrances Market in Denmark, to 2016’, the compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of the overall fragrance market during 2011-2016 period is likely to drop to 1.8% from 3.55% posted in the last five years.

The forecasted drop in CAGR is comparatively better in female fragrances segment at 48%, which was also the leader of Denmark’s fragrances industry with more than 59% market value share during 2006-11, and is expected to display similar momentum until 2016.

Male fragrances are expected to marginally follow with 48.5% drop in their growth rate over 2006-11, and staying in second in market value with about 36% from 2006 through 2016.

Unisex fragrances, which has the least market share of less than 5% during both review and forecast periods, is expected to trail at the bottom with more than 60% decrease in CAGR, Canadean survey reported.

In volume terms, the growth rate of Denmark’s fragrances market is anticipated to record a slight increase at 0.68% against 0.55% during 2006-11.

With respect to market share, the segments maintained a trend similar to that of market value, with female fragrances leading throughout the 10-year period, followed by male fragrances and then unisex fragrances.
