Evonik introduces new ingredients for hair conditioning product formulations

Speciality chemicals manufacturer and supplier Evonik has introduced two new Aminopropyl Dimethicone products for hair conditioning products.

The new products ABIL Soft AF 200 has been created for conditioning out of shampoo formulations, while the second ingredient ABIL Soft AF 300 is designed for the application in conditioning rinses.

According to the firm, both the aminosilicones possess hair conditioning properties that aims to make the hair feel soft and smooth.

The firm said the two ingredients, which are named as Aminopropyl Dimethicone by international nomenclature of cosmetic ingredients (INCI), also provide manageability to the hair.

Evonik’s new products are almost colourless liquids with low odour, and have low viscosities, which make them easy to handle and to process.

The new products is closely related to an synthetic route which leads to an optimal alignment of the functional groups along the polymer and to purity.

The firm said the new products content of cyclic silicones, D4 and D5, is very low, and due to the absence of secondary amines, with no risk of nitrosamine formation.

Evonik is a Germany-based speciality chemicals manufacturer, which operates in more than 100 countries globally.

The firm actively focuses on the health, nutrition, resource efficiency and globalisation segments.

In fiscal 2011, the firm generated sales of around €14.5bn and an operating profit or earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation(EBITDA) of about €2.8 bn.
