Clariant inaugurates new production facility in Mexico

Speciality chemicals manufacturer Clariant has inaugurated a new production facility for its Industrial & Consumer Specialties business unit (ICS) in Coatzacoalcos, Mexico.

The firm has invested $20m for the new facility, which will manufacture a wide range of chemical specialities and technological solutions for different markets, including personal care.

Clariant CEO Hariolf Kottmann said with the opening of the site in Coatzacoalcos, the company will strengthen the competitive solutions for which it is known by its clients across the globe.

"Mexico is a key player for our operations in Latin America, and this site will be an important reference for the international standards of innovation, sustainability and competitiveness that we want to consolidate within the region", Kottmann added.

The new production site will manufacture a wide range of chemical specialities and technological solutions for various industries, including personal care, metalworking, crop protection, painting and construction.

Industrial & Consumer Specialties business unit global head Michael Willome said with the opening of the new site in Mexico, the company can integrate the production of both finished products and intermediates in one place.

"This will increase the effectiveness of our processes in the supply of raw materials and logistics costs, which will benefit our customers", Willome added.

"We chose Coatzacoalcos as the best location for this new site in order to integrate the operations of our ICS business unit in one place, taking into account its strategic geographical position, in between the two sites producing raw materials in the country".

Clariant is a Switzerland-based specialty chemicals manufacturer, whose portfolio includes consumer care, industrial applications, plastics and coatings, energy, resources, and biotechnology.
