Flavours and fragrances company Givaudan profit surges 63% in 2012

Global flavour and fragrances company Givaudan has reported a 63% a increase in net profit for the full year of 2012 to CHF411m ($452.03m), up from CHF252m ($277.15m) for the same period in 2011.

The firm’s group sales for the full year increased to CHF4.25bn ($4.67bn), compared to CHF3.91bn ($4.3bn) in the corresponding period for the previous year.

Givaudan ‘s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EDBITA) rose to CHF870m ($956.8m), compared to CHF758m ($833.67m) in the year 2011.

The firm posted a 37% increase in operating income in 2012 to CHF607m ($667.59m), an increase from CHF443m ($487.2m) for the same period in the earlier year.

Fragrance division posted sales of CHF 2.02bn ($2..22bn), an increase of 8.4%, as against CHF 1.83bn ($2.01bn) ) in the corresponding period for the previous year.

Total sales for Fragrance compounds (Fine Fragrances and Consumer Products combined) increased by 12.2% to CHF1.78bn ($1.95bn) up from CHF 1.58bn ($1.73bn).

The firm’s fragrance ingredients sales decreased by 3.9% in local currencies.

According to the firm, the growth was attained primarily from the capital investments in Mexico and the UK.

Flavour division sales reported CHF 2.23bn ($2.45bn), a rise in 5%, compared to CHF2.08bn ($2.28bn) for the year 2011.

Givaudan is a Switzerland-based flavourings and fragrances manufacturer, whose portfolio includes fine fragrances, consumer products, fragrance ingredients, cosmetic actives and innovative naturals.
