Nu Skin revenue soars 19% in Q4 2012

Personal care products and dietary supplements direct selling company Nu Skin Enterprises has announced that its profit for the fourth quarter increased 19%, which was led by strong trends in Japan, South Korea and Mainland China.

The firm registered a revenue of $588.24m in the fourth quarter ended 31 December 2012, compared to $495.3m for the same period in the previous year.

Nu Skin has posted a net income of $59.23m in the current quarter, as against $49.52m for the same period in 2011.

According to the firm, gross profit for the quarter rose to $493.2m, up from $415.13m for the corresponding quarter in the previous year.

Nu Skin Enterprises president and chief executive officer Truman Hunt said the firm’s growth in the fourth quarter was particularly driven by strong momentum in several key markets including Japan, South Korea and Mainland China, where the firm continue to see good results from its latest ageLOC products.

"We expect the upcoming launch of our ageLOC weight-management system to drive significant growth in the back-half of the year," Hunt added.

The firm’s revenue in the North Asia for the fourth quarter 2012 increased to $250.2m, up from $204.3m during the same period last year.

Nu Skin posted revenue of $141.7m in the Greater China region for the third quarter, an increase of 28%, as against $110.6m for the same quarter in the previous year.

In South Asia/Pacific, revenue for the third quarter declined 3% to $63.45m, while in Americas it improved by 4% to $80.1m, and in the Europe the figure was $52.8m, a growth of 38%.

Nu Skin Enterprises is a US-based skin care, cosmetics manufacturer and direct selling company, whose portfolio includes ageLOC anti-aging products, ageLOC R2 nutritional supplement, ageLOC Galvanic Spa System and ageLOC Galvanic Body Spa, as well as the ageLOC Transformation daily skin care system.

The firm, which operates in 53 markets globally, has more than 900,000 active distributors and preferred customers.
