Danish feminine hygiene market to make moderate progress in five years: Report

The feminine hygiene market of Denmark is set to make a moderate progress in the next five years, finds a new analysis by UK-based research firm Canadean – Health & Beauty.

According to the report ‘The Feminine Hygiene Market in Denmark, to 2016’, the compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of the country’s feminine hygiene industry is forecast to touch 4.44% during 2011-16, up 13% compared to 2006-11 when it was pegged at 3.78%.

Similar improvement is expected even among the segments that comprise internal cleansers & sprays, pantiliners & shields, sanitary pads, tampons, and women’s disposable razors & blades, report noted.

In terms of market value, sanitary pads held the leading share in 2006 and 2011 with around 36% and will continue to lead the market even during 2016, followed by women’s disposable razors & blades.

Canadean, however, observed that the sanitary pads’ share is likely to drop slightly from 2006 to 2016.

Among all, pantiliners & shields have shown moderate progress in 2011 over 2006 and are expected to continue the momentum even until 2016, while the remaining segments are likely to be more or less stagnant.

Denmark’s overall market value of feminine hygiene industry has grown by 21% in 2011 and is set to grow by about 24% from that point.

Canadean’s survey observed a slightly different scenario when the market was analysed in volume terms.

As per the forecast, the volume-wise CAGR in 2011-16 is likely to be marginally lower at -0.4% than its growth rate registered during 2006-11. Market is set to grow by 11.7% in 2016 over its 2011 figures, edging out to the 11.8% growth it witnessed in 2011 over 2006.

Sanitary pads is the only segment that is forecast to see marginal drop in the growth rate, while pantiliners and shields will remain at the same level and others are set to move slightly further upwards.

In terms of volume share, sanitary pads leads the share in both review and forecast periods, with around 45%, while pantiliners & shields occupied the second spot with about 30% share.

The survey revealed that pantiliners & shields are identified to be increasing faster compared to other segments even in terms of volume.
