United-Guardian net sales decline 10.3% in 2012

Cosmetic ingredients and health care products manufacturer United-Guardian has reported a 10.3% decrease in net sales to $13.83m in the full year 2012, down from $14.34m during the same period in 2011.

The company’s net income for the full year rose to $4.83m, as against $4.71m for the same period in 2011.

United-Guardian’s income from operations for the full year 2012 was $6.09m, a 6% decrease from $6.13m for the same period in the previous year.

According to the company, the net sales dropped due to the production downsizing by the supplier of one of its pharmaceutical products in the second half of the year.

United-Guardian president Ken Globus said the firm’s sales in the personal care products, in particular its Lubrajel line of moisturising and lubricating gels recovered partially to counter the decreased sales.

"We are also continuing to expand our personal care product lines with our new ‘Lubrajel Natural’ line of products," added.

"I am confident that our continuing efforts to bring new and unique personal care products to the global market, along with the strong marketing efforts of our global marketing partners and the expected resumption of Renacidin sales, will result in another strong year in 2013."
