Evonik Industries expands cosmetics raw materials capacity

Germany-based specialty chemicals manufacturer Evonik Industries has launched expanded capacity for cosmetics raw materials in Indonesia.

The plant, which is located at Bekasi, will produce raw materials, additives and ingredients for the cosmetic and household care industries.

Indonesian plant will offer range of raw materials and additives includes emulsifiers, secondary surfactants, emollients, conditioners, thickeners, and pearlising agents.

The company also launched an analytical and technical service lab along the new expanded capacity.

The lab will help out personal and household care manufacturers by providing their formulations as well as updates and trainings on new additives, active ingredients and products.

The added capacity has increased the company’s production capacity of surfactants and esters, which are utilised in hair care, skincare, and industrial applications.

Evonik personal care business line business director Asia Pacific Lauren Kjeldsen said, "Expanding our manufacturing footprint in Asia marks another step to better serve our customers in the region. The additional capacity will allow us to shorten lead times and optimize the supply chain with regional inventory."

Evonik managing director and country head Indonesia Kamaludin said, "With the expansion we are strengthening our operations in Indonesia, which follow highest standards of safety, efficiency, productivity and quality."

Evonik’s production facilities are located in 24 countries and it operates two production facilities in Indonesia. It’s subsidiary PT Evonik Indonesia produces hydrogen peroxide in Cikarang for the paper, pulp and textile industry.

Germany headquartered Evonik employs around 2,500 R&D staff at more than 35 locations across the globe.

The company has over 26,000 patents and pending patents in its account.
