Skincare market in Japan to grow by 2%: Report

According to the report "Market Focus: Trends and Developments in the Skincare Sector in Japan", Facial Care market will grow steadily at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 2.9% during 2012-17, primarily due to a raise in the use of anti-agers.

Make-Up Removers will be the fastest-growing category at a CAGR of 3.8% during the period. Body Care will be another promising category.

Facial Care will gain a market share of 0.3% during 2007-17, and Make-up Removers 0.2% while Body Care category will gain a very nominal share of 0.02%. Depilatories and Hand Care categories will lose 0.2% and 0.4% respectively.

Skincare market accounts for over 50% of Health & Beauty sales in Japan, which is the biggest Skincare market globally.

Growing demand for organic and natural cosmetics, and demand for therapeutic products will be two major consumer trends that will influence the Japanese Skincare market.

The report says, "Japanese women use and spend more on skincare products than any other women in the world, and increased spending on anti-aging products is helping the Skincare market grow, even during the economic slowdown and declining birth rates."
