Designer Parfums acquires skincare startup DDF from P&G

UK-based perfume brand Designer Parfums has acquired skin care solution provider DDF skincare from the US-based consumer goods company Procter & Gamble (P&G) for an undisclosed amount.

Following the acquisition, the Designer Parfums will work with DDF skincare founder and cosmetic dermatologist Howard Sobel.

In addition, Sobel is expected to play a more instrumental role in the marketing and development of both cosmeceutical products.

Designer Parfums CEO Dilesh Mehta said the company has taken the strategic step of entering into the premium skincare market and is delighted to be taking the first step through the acquisition of the DDF business.

"DDF’s range of products and product efficacy is consistently acknowledged to be a leader in its field," Mehta said.

"It has a very loyal customer base in the USA and beyond and we plan to bring these well-loved products to new markets to ensure they are accessible."

Designer Parfums is subsidiary of the Shaneel Enterprises Group, which specialises in the creation and development of luxury brands.

Currently, Shaneel has licensed brands such as GHOST, Jean Patou, SCHERRER, Aigner Parfums, PORSCHE DESIGN and Worth Paris to the Designer Parfums.

Procter & Gamble has reported a revenue of $2.61bn during the fiscal third quarter that ended 31 March 2014, while its earnings went up by 5% during the period.
