MyGlamm raises $6m funding from L’Occitane

India-based on-demand beauty services start-up MyGlamm has raised $6m in funding from French manufacturer L’Occitane.

L’Occitane is leading the funding round, which is claimed to be the largest of its kind in the sector. The funding round has witnessed participation from current investor Tano Capital and Brand Capital.

With funds raised from the latest round, MyGlamm aims to expand its presence in new cities across the country and abroad, reports KnowStartup.

MyGlamm is also planning to raise another $4m from an Indian consumer internet company.

MyGlamm founder Darpan Sanghvi was quoted by The Economic Times as saying: "This is the first instance globally of a beauty company investing in a tech-enabled startup in the space.

"The strategic support of L’Occitane in our growth will also be a big differentiator over the competition."

In addition, Sanghvi has been operating offline beauty and wellness ventures under the brand name of Sanghvi Brands that has the master franchise of L’Occitane Spa and other high-end salons and spas such as Warren Tricomi.

According to MyGlamm, it conducts offers 600 services in a day in Mumbai and Pune, India, with repeat customers aiding over 60% of the business.

New customers spend around Rs1,500 ($22) on various services provided by MyGlamm, and repeat customers spend around Rs2,900 ($43), reports The Economic Times.
