Silk Therapeutics launches anti-ageing skincare collection

US specialty biotechnology company Silk Therapeutics has launched its new anti-ageing skincare line that includes eight silk-based products.

Designed to renew, reinforce and nourish the skin, the new flagship collection is suitable for women of all skin types, such as sensitive skin, as well as for pregnant women, and oncology patients.

The collection that features pure, liquid silk as an active ingredient include Silk Therapeutics C Advance, an anti-aging intensive serum; Silk Therapeutics Eye Revive for brightening and firming purposes; Silk Therapeutics Nurture; Silk Therapeutics Nurture+; Silk Therapeutics Nurture++; Silk Therapeutics Purely Smooth; and Silk Therapeutics Silk+C 30 Film.

According to Silk Therapeutics, silk is well-suited with human skin and has a compatible protein structure.

Silk molecules, which are smaller than collagen, are small enough to enter deeply into the skin rather than just sitting on the surface, blending with a person’s collagen protein, and stimulating anti-ageing at a molecular level.

Silk is also capable to improve the skin without unnecessary fillers, additives and harsh preservatives.

Silk Therapeutics chief executive officer Greg Altman said: "Our passion for leveraging science and technology drove our new product offerings.

"The unique features and benefits of pure liquid silk provide visible results, challenging the industry to redefine the notion of clean skincare."

The company uses a patented technological process to separate pure silk protein, known as fibroin, from its outer layer and returns it to a pure, stable liquid form.

The entire Silk Therapeutics product uses silk fibroin as the main ingredient along with other ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and vitamin C.

Silk Therapeutics chief operating officer Rebecca Horan said: "Anti-ageing skincare isn’t solely about eliminating wrinkles, it’s also about preserving the skin’s vitality and one’s health."
