Dyson enters beauty market with hairdryer

Vacuum cleaner and hand dryer manufacturer Dyson has launched its first hairdryer.

The company spent nearly $71m on its development of the hairdryer, called Supersonic, creating around 600 prototypes.

The new device incorporates a V9 digital motor and carries 13 blades that are designed in a way to cut noise, reported Globalcosmeticsnews.com.

Supersonic hairdryer features four settings and a heat control detector, which helps maintain the temperature at 248° to stop damage to hair from heat.

Featuring a miniature pump in the handle, this device adopts almost the same principles as Dyson’s other products.

To develop the product, the firm collaborated with stylist Akin Konizi, as well as purchasing natural hair worth £40,000 for carrying out tests, reported Wallpaper.com.

According to the company, attachments are often a major issue with hairdryers and they also tend to overheat hair.

In order to address this, Supersonic has been developed to assess the temperature around 20 times each second, which prevents it from overheating.

The product is also fitted with magnetic styling attachments.

Supersonic hair dryer will be available from Dyson’s website and Sephora stores.
