Deals this week: Permira Advisers, Greenbrier Companies

UK-based private equity company Permira Advisers has entered an agreement to buy a majority interest in John Masters Organics Inc. (JMO) for $335.96m.

JMO owns Styla and John Masters Organics, a personal care products brand. The transaction will help expand JMO’s business worldwide.

According to the terms of the deal, the founders of John Masters Organics and Styla will continue to operate in the combined businesses.

An agreement has been signed by Greenbrier Companies to buy a 19.5% stake in Amsted-Maxion Cruzeiro, a Brazilian manufacturer of railcar components, for approximately $10m.

Greenbrier expects to complete the acquisition, which is subject to the fulfilment of customary closing conditions, in the fourth quarter of its current fiscal year.

The transaction also provides an option for Greenbrier to possess a direct ownership stake between 30.6% and 40.5% in Greenbrier-Maxion.
